ThreatFire offers real-time prevention of virus and malware infections by identifying suspicious behavior ("zero-day" events) as it happens, before malicious code installs itself on your PC. Since PC Tools--formerly known as CyberHawk--bought the program, it has made some dramatic and noticeable feature improvements.
ThreatFire seeks out rootkits, heuristics-based threats, viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, adware, keyloggers, and buffer overflows. The software real-time protection didn't noticeably slow down our computer, and the customizable advanced settings were excellent. Users can pick and choose their preferred trusted processes and create rules for detection, such as scanning for SCR files created by an e-mail client. You can also avail yourself of the scheduler, and create a system restore point before moving threats into quarantine. The IntelliScan took about 15 minutes on our machine, but it didn't lock us into scanning mode. We were still able to check out other panes in the ThreatFire interface.The only problem encountered was that occasionally, threats would be detected but without a name label. This made it hard to determine if they were genuine or false positives. ThreatFire has improved markedly, though, and working as a complement to your currently-installed antivirus it should be considered a serious protection tool.Traditional antivirus solutions cannot protect you until after they have discovered a new threat and produced a signature to counter it. ThreatFire does not rely on signatures, but instead provides behavior-based protection. It is designed to be used alongside your existing antivirus software and it fills the gap in protection between your antivirus signature updates. ThreatFire protects you against major security threats including viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits and even some spyware. Its advanced ActiveDefense technology intelligently analyzes the behavior of processes and programs on a system and immediately halts any malicious action. It continuously monitors all activities on your PC at a very low system level and uses a proprietary combination of analytics, risk algorithms, program histories and tolerance thresholds to identify and shut down threats so you are always protected, no matter how new the threat. ThreatFire is easy to use, instantly effective, and very light on system resources.

Here's yet another simple word processing program, iText for Windows. It's designed in the classic Apple Computers style, with a clean and simple look. It boasts a wide variety of built-in fonts and other settings. You can even perform standard word-processing tasks with it.This program's design is simple and efficient, with an aesthetically pleasing interface that is easy to navigate. You can change its color, which is a fun feature and a nice touch. All of its major functions are readily accessible via drop-down windows or buttons at the bottom of the interface. We would recommend this free program highly were it not for one fatal flaw: We simply could not figure out how to save a document. Nothing happened when we pressed the Save button, so we tried the "Save As" button, and nothing happened then, either. We tried closing the document. A window asked us if we wanted to save it. We chose Yes, but nothing happened then, either. The program has a Help file with a User's Manual and other information, which we combed over to see if we were missing something, but we couldn't find any reason why pressing Save won't save a document to save your life. We tried iText on two different computers with the same result.If it could save files, iText for Windows would be a fine, simple word processor. As it is, it's not much use. Whether it's buggy or just too hard to figure out, we can't recommend it.iText is a cute text editor with simple word processing, and fitting the charming iMac's colorful design. It has stability and lots of nice features selected from LightWayText. There are many ways to improve the appearance of your document; besides styles, there are decoration lines, the ability to change all paragraph indents or margins, and to paste in PICT images. iText also supports RTF and a spell checker.
